Sally Hansen Nail Prism

 So I was going through my parents storage shed with my mom the other day and she saw that I had a box of stuff there. Whilst going through it, I found some gems!! One being an OLD OLD bottle of Sally Hansen Nail Prism in 'Emerald Amethyst'. I want to say I bought this in either late Junior High or early High School. Either way, I got this about 10 years ago lol. I remember buying this because I was on a birthstone kick and amethyst is my birthstone lol.

On to the swatches!!. This was two coats but could be fully opaque in one. I used 'Nail Life Gripper' as my base. The only real complaint is that it never really dried. Even the day after I applied it, I hit my nail. It would regularly chip there, but the polish just scrunched up life it was still wet. It was still pretty permeable even after a top coat.

 

These pics are coming out like a steely grey, but 'Emerald Amethyst' is actually like a muted olive color that changes to a steely purple color when you move your nail.

 

Yes, those are strawberry shortcake band-aids. I cut a considerable chunk out of that finger two days ago. That nail still has the nail polish I was wearing on that day lol. Every time I take off the bandage I just wrap it right back up... sooooo painful!!

Bubble White..does it really work?!

 I'll let you decide! If you read my China Glaze Island Escape post, you probably read that 'Blue Iguana' dyed my nails blue because I was dumb and didn't use a base coat. In my defense the polish was only on my nails for 30 minutes and I sure didn't think it would DYE them!!! ack!

I also spend a considerable amount of time on YouTube. I follow sayanythingbr00ke there and she did a post on Bubble White, which can be purchased at Sally's. It is a packet or tub of white granules. The directions say to take off your polish, use warm water and soak for five minutes. I timed five minutes the first time I used it.. eh results.. this time I left my nails in for ten minutes and..sweetness!!

Now I'm not saying that Bubble White whitened my tips and my nail bed to a full white and it was crazy wonderful! but it did do a decent job. it smells okay, not too fum-y. And it has WONDERFUL moisturizing effects. Soooo nice on my cuticles! Check it out!!

Ahh 'Blue Iguana' you crafty b*****d!

 So those four were obviously my dyed nails and these next four are after ten minutes in Bubble White and a nail brushing. What do you think?!

China Glaze Island Escape

And......I still say Escape like Dory from Finding Nemo. Ya.. I'm cool lol. Anyway. I picked up five of the six colors in China Glaze's new Island Escape collection. The one I passed on is 'Cha Cha Cha'. I just.. light greens wash me out and look so bad on me. But all the rest are AWESOME!!

I did not use a top coat and I used Nail Life Gripper as my base in all of these swatches, except 'Blue Iguana'. And yes I did learn my lesson and had to whiten my nails and skin because I didn't want to look like I had my fingers in blue icing all night.

I'm going to start with 'Papaya Punch'. This is sort of what I wanted 'Sunnyside Up' from Wet N Wild Wild Shine to be. This looks like pulped orange juice.. or idk really lol. I'll let the pics do the talking :D

'Papaya Punch' is pretty thick and goopy. But it has a wonderful dry time, and is opaque in one coat. I used two coats here, because, well frankly dog hair got in the first coat :D




Next up we have '108 Degrees' This is a beautiful berry color chock full with pink glass flecks. This color is absolutely gorgeous! I used four coats here. It's not too bad as far as sheerness, but it does take a few coats to cover your tips.

Like that dog hair on my index finger? Babygirl knew you had wanted one so she shed it just for you :D

'108 Degrees' has coverage, but you do have to build it. The formula is great and I love this color! Oh! and can you see my cuticles where 'Blue Iguana' had dyed them? :D


'Electric Pineapple' reminds me of a lemon lime snow cone during the summer time. It is a yellow/green creme. Unlike 'Papaya Punch', it's consistency was wonderful, and not thick at all. It was not opaque in one coat, like 'PP'. I used two coats here.

Next up is 'Blue Iguana'. This is a bright blue with blue glass flecks. I didn't think I would like it at first, but I fell in love with it on my nails. It's the perfect summer blue. It almost reminds me of Revlon's 'Ocean Breeze' from the newest scent collection. This was three coats.

Lastly I have for you, 'Senorita Bonita'. I am so in love with this color! I don't usually go for purples but when I saw Scrangie's swatches, I knew I had to have it! This is four coats. It's formula was night, and had even coverage. 'Senorita Bonita' reminds me of a big juicy, glass flecky grape! I love it and it looks wonderful on!

mwaahaha!! blue cuticle!!!

Beautiful outside and I have a cold.. yippie!!! :D

So with summer approaching fast, I have really been getting into my brighter colors. One of these colors is Wet N Wild's Craze in 'Lust'. this is a perfect fuchsia/hot pink shimmer. I love this color. it's so bright and just perfect! :D

This is two coats with no base and no top.

Discount Polishes at Sally's

I went to visit a friend recently and we visited the Sally's by her house. BTW... I am currently downtrodden with a summer cold so I'm not as eloquent as I usually am.. Sorry! Anyway, when we visited, I noticed that there were some polishes by the front door and of course I picked some up.

I purchased 'Laser Lime' from China Glazes Tronica collection..I'm not in love with this color, but I do like to have complete collections, and really couldn't beat it at $1.99. I also picked up Orly's 'Star of Bombay' from their 2008 Gems collection. Lastly for discount polishes, I picked up 'Sapphire Silk' from the 2011 Precious collection.

Today, I have swatched for you 'Sapphire Silk'

 

'Sapphire Silk' is a gorgeous teal/rich blue. This formula was awesome and had a pretty good dry time. It dries to a plasticy/jelly finish. I really like this. It's a wonderful pop of color but could definitely be used for work or a date. I love this!

 

These are two coats, but could be opaque within one. I used Nail Life Gripper as my base, and Seche Vite as my top coat.
